Finallly blogging

We are finally blogging about Jessica! Our friends have been doing this with their little girl, and we've really enjoyed reading about their experiences. We thought some people might enjoy reading about ours as well.

Jessica is 12 weeks old now. She is getting more beautiful everyday. The first 6 weeks were pretty tough, but these last 6 weeks have been a lot of fun. Jessica has been smiling, laughing, and trying to talk a lot. Her voice is so sweet...

Some of her outings have included Aunt Janet and Uncle Randy's, Grandma and Grandpa's, Starbucks, Fashion Square Mall (the mother's room at Nordstrom is awesome), Dave and Busters at Desert Ridge, Dave and Busters at Tempe Marketplace, Albertsons, Walmart, Target, Casa Grande, and doctors' offices for her and mom. Plus many walks around the neighborhood with Lexi.

Jessica has also been visited by many friends and family. People have traveled from Houston, Denver, Chicago, North Carolina, and L.A. just to meet her. I think she already feels very special.

In the last month, we've really lucked out on the sleeping (knock on wood). She had her first stretch of more than 5 hours on May 15th. She gradually built up to sleeping 9 or 10 hour stretches once she started sleeping in her own room about a week and a half ago. I have been sleeping better as well, aside from waking up a few times a night, going to her room, and leaning way into the crib and staring at her until I see or hear her breathe. Sometimes I give her a kiss on the cheek and she kicks her legs up and goes back to sleep.

She has also discovered her thumb recently. Sometimes she prefers the whole hand. She has been sucking, biting, and drooling a lot. She makes the funniest smacking sounds. We are beginning to wonder if she is teething, because she has also been pretty fussy the last few days.

Next week Jessica will meet some new friends at day care while I head back to work. I plan to work 32 hours a week, and I have been given the flexibility of working half of the time from home. Grandma R is going to come over one day a week to help out.

Kirk and I are doing well. We are both trying to shed our pregnancy weight with Wii Fit. It's a pretty cool toy.
